Have you ever hugged your Bible as though it is a beloved child, spouse, or friend?
More often lately, we might pull our Bible close to our heart in gratitude
that God has allowed us to have His book in our possession and we are able to read it.
Shall we sincerely and humbly say "thank you" for those who sacrificed on battlefields for the
freedom of religion we enjoy and "thank you" for our teachers who patiently taught us to read?
The value of the Bible in our laps is a treasure beyond measure.
In the early days of our 21 years of Open Book Ministries,
we deciphered our place in the Body of Christ …
to ignite a passion and impart a pursuit of intentional intimacy with God.
All of the good any one of us might do in God's Kingdom remains hollow
unless it is rooted in a love and curiosity about God.
The Bible is God's heart imprinted on papyrus.
Jesus said: "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing;
the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life."
John 6:63
The author of Psalm 119 eloquently described this passion:
“Your testimonies are wonderful; therefore my soul keeps them.
The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
I opened my mouth and panted, for I longed for Your commandments.
Psalm 119:129-131
After one of our “get away” retreats, a dear participant
graciously shared with us what God was speaking to her heart:
“The Lord has shown me how I need to stay in the Word - good or bad days!
My feelings of weakness or feeling lost comes from detaching myself from the vine.
Stay connected!"
Then she wrote what she believes the Holy Spirit was speaking to her:
“I have the answers! Seek Me! I will never leave you nor forsake you.
Taste and see that the Lord is good. I am the way and the life.”
These are the “aha” moments we yearn for in women’s lives, the moments when
they connect profoundly with the Lord, hear Him speak to their heart,
and leave our presence with a deeply personal plan of action from God.
This month of July, the OBMin servant-leadership team will devise a plan and calendar
for the 22nd season of Open Book Ministries. The goal will remain the same …
to offer opportunities for the people of God to know the Lord,
to “hug His Word,”
to rest in the truth that they are held firmly in His grip,
and to pursue that which they were created for.
Pray with us and for us! We are already in great anticipation!
